TUFC would like to congratulate Football Federation Tasmania for successfully persuading the Central Coast Mariners to stay on in Tasmania after their pre-season clash with Melbourne Victory in Launceston on July 25, setting up a further friendly against a Tasmanian Select XI at KGV on the 27th.
The Club would like to urge as many people as possible get to this game. If 1,000 people turned up on a Tuesday night in mid-winter Glenorchy to see a friendly, what a message that sends about the potential support for an A-League clash with Sydney FC at the conclusion of the Sydney to Hobart.
This is a refreshingly pro-active approach from Tasmania's governing body. Matches like this are few and far between for Tassie, and it will be great to see the cream of our State's league players pit their wits against the likes of A-League stalwarts Nik Mrdja, Daniel McBreen and John Hutchinson, foreign imports Patrick Zwaanswij and Patricio Perez, and exciting youngsters Oliver Bozanic and Rostyn Griffiths.
It will be a great test for our boys and a tremendous opportunity for Tasmania.
