Hi guys, The Tasmania United supporters meetup will be at the Gunners Arms from 11.30am on the day. Members of the TUFC taskforce will also be there if you want to ask them any questions! Bring your flags, signs and banners and wear orange/yellow/green to show your support! At about 12:40 we will wander up to York Park for the match. Thanks to Martyn from TUFC for organising! The Gunners Arms is here - http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&fb=1&split=1&gl=au&cid=3018068248103971834&li=lmd&ll=-41.429407,147.144034&spn=0.007899,0.014184&z=16 See you there hopfully! PS. I have two spots available in my car for those who are travelling from Hobart to both the meetup and the match!

Chuqposted at 5:19AM on 23rd Jul, 2009 I saw this was publicised in the A-League pre-season match article in the Examiner today - great stuff! Examiner article was almost a full page, 2nd last page (not including the TV guide page) - this was after a similarly sized article yesterday. The Mercury, however... Walter's column was about 6 pages in, took up about 1/6 of the page at most, and the only reference to the A-League game was the selection of the women's North and South squads "to be played after the A-League pre-season match this Sunday". Taswegianposted at 9:47AM on 24th Jul, 2009 Nice big article on Archie Thompson in todays (Friday) paper too. World cup dreams etc. If the weather holds I'm guessing around 5k. Personally I would be happy with anything over 4k. Chuqposted at 2:39PM on 23rd Jul, 2009 .. and on FourFourTwo! http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/108342,tassie-bid-to-host-qa.aspx
ntguyposted at 8:32AM on 26th Jul, 2009 How did it go? I ended up in bed all day with the flu. TassieRedposted at 12:20PM on 26th Jul, 2009 Good work guys. The match has a small segment on the 6pm news on Southern Cross, but the bid got a nod on a newsbreak at 10.15, saying "Tasmania's bid for an A-League team has received a boost after more than 6,000 fans attended the match between Melbourne and Adelaide" (paraphrasing as did not catch the exact wording), and the backdrop was the guys holding the Support The Bid cards. So decent turnout and decent coverage, so hopefully we got everything we could from it. Unfortunately I couldn't be there so would like to hear the views of people that were, also how the taskforce Q&A went beforehand. Foxhawkposted at 12:31AM on 28th Jul, 2009 Are you able to present some of the questions presented and what the answers provided were please. Cheers ajax1995posted at 11:33AM on 28th Jul, 2009 I have a substantial number of Vote A-League bumper stickers (courtesy of Martyn). I have just posted a few to a mate in Melbourne (Tasmanian expat) for him to put on his car & also for his mates to put on their vehicles. If anyone wants a supply, please let me know, and we want to make sure EVERYONE who gets one, actually puts in on their car. It was a successful morning at the Gunners Arms on Sunday & congrats to Rob Shaw of the Examiner. His genuine interest really reflected the next day to the coverage provided, which I think was beyond anyones expectations. |

I'm glad your going Chuq. You'll know what to ask. I have to go to a christening for my brothers boy otherwise I would go as well. Good luck mate. Let us know how it pans out.
PS. tell them not to get depressed if not many show. It doesn't mean we aren't out there ready to get behind it!
