DISCUSSIONS > Last Result if expansion stopped at 12

Should the unlikely event occur that the expansion ends at 12 clubs and the second tier is put back over ten years who would be interested in the following scenario;

With the growth of the new native competition in New Zealand, the agreement to host an Australian 'New Zealand' side ends and the licence currently held by Wellington Phoenix ends and is effectively purchased along with all standing contracts for staff and players (those willing to relocate) by TUFC and the TUFC owner.

Wellington Phoenix relocates to Tasmania under the new name 'TUFC' with the Phoenix playing history absorbed into the playing history of TUFC.

If something like this occurred it would possibly give some continuency for current Phoenix supporters (much like what currently exists with SMFC supporters who go to SMFC away matches in Melbourne).

It could even garner us some support in NZ, even with its own new national competition growing I am imagining that some supporters will retain a soft spot for TUFC, especially if we played one match a season in Wellington. (6 in Hobart, 6 in Launceston and 1 in Wellington).

Its not my preferred option to be honest, however I would be keep to gather some opinions. I would take this over nothing.

I agree with you Foxhawk. Although it would not be my first option I would embrace the concept because of the possibility of absorbing ready made club entity and adapting it to suit our own requirements which could indeed be a faster way of symbiosis into the A League. Whilst faster though it may not be smoother if unwanted baggage comes with the licence so we would have to be adamant that we would do so on our own TUFC terms.
