I am surprised that there has not been any comment re: this item. It was headlined by Colin McNiff as great news for us all. I don't have the link but it was on Mon Night 6th July main news and featured comments by John McGirr. The gist of the comments was that the FFA have virtually confirmed that if Tassie does not get the go ahead for entry with the Melbourne Heart then we are definite for entry in the next two. FFA has stated that they want a further two teams as soon as possible (this may be to counteract nationwide inroads by AFL and Union); personally I also believe that enticements to the nations youth are on the up for our game because of the current demise (perhaps temporarily) of basketball also. John McGirr reiterated that Frank Lowy's preferences for team numbers do not reflect the full consensus of the FFA. Add comments |

Chuqposted at 7:29AM on 9th Jul, 2009 I saw similar news articles on television last night, both SC and ABC news had a story about the press conference from Wednesday. Shame my TV capturing setup is currently not working, or I could have youtube'd them for everyone :(
galacticaposted at 11:38AM on 10th Jul, 2009 Thanks for the consideration Chuq anyway it seems that the next media announcement has superceded this category entry in the other category on this forum. Very interesting debates too it seems about the pros and cons of the feasability study result. Well I will also have my two bobs worth soon enough when time permits suffice to say that things do look on the up and even if so far it isn't exactly what everyone would like. |

I should point out that John McGirr did also say that our entry requires submission of a business case to achieve success and they are progressing with this although all assistance is naturally welcome. Obviously there is a great deal of discussion going on to link everything together and I would presume this includes government input, because without this it seems, despite not being essential to finances, it will certainly be necessary to co-ordinate grounds rationalization. Let us hope consensus can be reached on a united approach to inclusiveness for spectators and where we wish to watch our games.
