Nice little mention on TWG site in Half-Time Orange's blog. Criticising the name-dropping gimmickry of the various NSW bids, at the same time urging the FFA to keep expansion going, he writes:

"You would hope the decision by Football Federation Australia to give a licence to a new A-League team is based on sound due-diligence and not influenced by the cult of celebrity. That is one thing I like about the Tasmania United bid, which, for the record I have no involvement (and nor does Simon Hill, despite reports to the contrary, which have since been corrected). No celebrity spruikers. No klieg lights. No bells and whistles. Just community-focused and modestly ambitious. Another Central Coast Mariners in the making (whether that’s good or bad is not for me to say; you make up your own mind)."

Shows that people are taking notice and I'll take the CCM reference as I think it's pretty accurate.

Not everyone is taking notice! In this article Michael Cockerill talks about the bids vying for the 12th spot (towards the end), but no mention of Tassie!

Don't worry, having Mike Cokerill not mention our bid is a big plus.  He is by far the worst of the commentators on Fox's coverage of the A-League and the Socceroos and I take anything he says in his articles with a bucketful of salt. He is always pushing the barrow of his own narrow thinking.

Case in point is that in the same article he says that the SCG, Subiaco and Parramatta Stadium are being trialed as World Cup Venues.

Didn't Jesse hear about the Sheik? :P

Anyway, I'm surprised Simon Hill is denying links to TUFC, he has attended the bid launch and some other events hasn't he?

In his article in 442 a couple of months back, Hill said he was happy to be an advocate for TUFC but is in no way connected with the bid itself. I don't think it was a case of him distancing himself as such, just that it got reported that he was some kind of TUFC spearhead when he was purely a guest speaker, so I think he was just clearing it up so he didn't get accused of any self interest.
