Would i be right in assuming the strip would be predominately dark green with a hint of yellow/orange? Add comments |

Grubbposted at 11:43PM on 26th Nov, 2008 Someone suggested a kit along the lines of the Portugese national team, and I'd love to see that. Green and rich red, maybe with some yellow detailing?mlinacreposted at 6:58AM on 28th Nov, 2008 I definitely think using the state colours (Green and Orange) is a must. It makes the team more representational rather than just another club. But Green seems to be popular (eg. Canberra and Nth Qld).dechardonayposted at 9:12AM on 28th Nov, 2008 ...isn't the idea to have a more representative team, ie to unite the north and south? besides, melbourne victory is a damnably representative kit, and it doesn't do us much harm (other than the odd crank englishman saying our kit looks like a rugby jumper)ndireenposted at 12:41AM on 1st Dec, 2008 Hmmm, Portugese national strip is dominantly red; Adelaide are already the Reds (and just to add confusion, Roar also have a reddish-orange strip as well). I like the idea of a more classic look for TUFC: how about Green and White, a la Celtic? -their away strip is green with white trim (you can see an example here: http://www.uksoccershop.com/products/2921.html) - and of course the home strip with the hoops is world famous.TC_CValeposted at 1:22AM on 1st Dec, 2008 Our state colours are Maroon, (not red) Dark Green & Gold. This was why I suggested the Portuguse strip. As all teams play in a mainly white away strip, there should not be a problem with a clash of colours with Adelaide or Queensland when they play in Tassie. Could we use a small map of Tas on the sides of the shorts.Taswegianposted at 3:20AM on 1st Dec, 2008 I love the Portugal strip and I love the Celtic strip. Cant lose with anything like that I reckon. If we get this club we may be lucky enough to have that Reebok deal over and done with by the time it happens and then maybe we can have something a bit different for a change.Rutposted at 5:16AM on 1st Dec, 2008 I am all for the Celtic Strip - I can't understand all this tassie colours crap. This is a franchise, a club, not a state team and needs to run as such. Just think of the potential financial and player potential we could get by aligning the club with the Glasgow giants. PS Celtics away strip circa 1996 was an absolute classic, flouro yellow/green and black hoops. Apparently it and the great wall of china are the only man made objects that can be seen from space!:)Chuqposted at 5:27AM on 1st Dec, 2008 I can see how green and white would be good, but it appears North Queensland may have beaten us to it! Looking at the current logo colours: Green and yellow = national team Green and orange = good combo Green and red = too dark maybe, but as mentioned Portugal does it fine! What about something out of left field.. black with fluro green stripes?Rutposted at 5:35AM on 1st Dec, 2008 So long as we stay away from purple we should be fine!ndireenposted at 6:29AM on 1st Dec, 2008 Chuq, I couldn't find an example of Nth Qld Fury proposed strip online. Do you have an example with url?Chuqposted at 10:44PM on 2nd Dec, 2008 Actually I haven't seen the official kit, but making a guess, going by this page at 442: http://au.fourfourtwo.com/aleague2008_club.aspx?team=northqueenslanddechardonayposted at 11:12PM on 2nd Dec, 2008 purple, actually, rocks. cf sanfrecce hiroshima, kyoto sanga, fiorentina but no, not for tassie.ndireenposted at 11:46PM on 2nd Dec, 2008 Purple? - Glory got there first anyway.stoogestposted at 11:52PM on 2nd Dec, 2008 See the other thread for my comment regarding naming the team as the 'van Diemens'. But to go with that I would suggest a strip that is predominantly black (demons)with maroon and green highlights.ndireenposted at 10:43AM on 6th Dec, 2008 Hmm, thinking more along those Portugese lines: what about the home strip a deep green with a stylised deep crimson lion's head all down the left side? (a la the lion on the Tasmanian flag, or the U.Tasmania lion). The away strip could be white with either a red lion or a green one down the same side. Both authentically Tasmanian in symbology. Then the team could be known as the "TUFC Lions" (note: not the Tigers, which is the Tassie cricket team) and the U23s could be the "Young Lions". Whaddya reckon? Foxhawkposted at 10:15PM on 11th Feb, 2009 I have not made up my mind about a kit style or colours as yet, however I think the Lions idea is great. I like so many of these ideas! It's great just talking about them all and imagining the day we might see it for real!jizztasticposted at 5:41AM on 22nd Dec, 2008 Love the idea of the Celtic style kit, Green and White FTW I reckon.
Perhaps even a touch of a Red/Orange ?
ntguyposted at 10:46AM on 23rd Dec, 2008 We could model the team strip off the colours of the swift parrot which breeds only in Tasmania and migrates to the mainland after the breeding season before returning the next year. I'm not sure that The Parrots is such a good name for a team although it does grow on you LOL.
ntguyposted at 10:48AM on 23rd Dec, 2008 PS. THe colours are mainly green with red, yellow and blue markings... The link I posted will take you to one of the best images of a Swift Parrot I have seen.Hugo_Bladelposted at 10:46AM on 11th Jan, 2009 green top with orange collar, orange shorts with either orange or green socks tufcposted at 10:47PM on 11th Jan, 2009 I'm with the Green and red (a la Portugal) camp. Can't say I'm very keen on orange...jizztasticposted at 11:46AM on 10th Mar, 2009 true that, orange would stuff it up dechardonayposted at 11:16PM on 12th Jan, 2009 i like the parrots - there's precedent for such birds being awesome mascots (i'm thinking the fenerbache canaries here), plus it alludes to PIRATES! which given the penal colony history of tassie (though i doubt port arthur hosted a pirate anywhere...) forgive me, i am sleepy, and random. :(Foxhawkposted at 10:20PM on 11th Feb, 2009 Although I prefer the Lions the Convicts could be a great name. If a Canberra based 'Capitol Punishment' ever entered the team then a friendly rivalry could develop just because of the names. Still not set on names although I favour red, two greens (light and dark in contrast - can't really describe this although I have seen this done on other kits with other colours and it looks great.) and orange. Perhaps with a red lion on the breast beneath the club logo. southern3posted at 11:40AM on 5th Apr, 2009 I was thinking... How about? Home: Away: |

That's what I'm guessing, but when the logo voting was occurring, it was stated as being a logo for the 'bid document', so it might change - and I guess that means the colours may change too. It's a shame both Canberra and North Queensland are both using green, which is a natural colour for a Tassie team to use!» Reply to this comment
