Bellerive Oval ? Launceston ? New Stadium ?

IMO, a new rectangular ground in Hobart and Aurora Stadium. Share the home games between them considering it is Tasmania 'United'.

I think sharing home grounds (1/2 L'ton & 1/2 Hobart). That way we are not only distinguishing ourselves from the AFL bid of having one home ground, but bringing all of Tasmania together, to allow the majority of followers to get to games.

It's probably a given that short term we will be looking at using an oval ground for our matches. To be honest I think we would be wasting our time trying to have the club, once its up and running, use its limited finances to build its own ground in the short to medium term. Obviously that is going to come later.

I think we are on a winner if we can host the world cup. Fact is; we won't get to host 2018. No way will three in a row go to a Southern Hemisphere nation. But to be honest I think that it will work out in our best interest to skip 2018 and either host 2022 or 2026.

One of FIFA's directives regarding the World Cup is that hosting nations MUST be seen to be improving football in their nation/confederacy. With this in mind I think having a Tasmanian based ground of 40k would be seen in a favourable light by FIFA and would probably be within the FFA's planning - presuming that our state government isn't snoozy like in the case of the Olympics and doesn't miss the boat again!

(How many noticed an increase of visitors to the state during the Olympics? How much advertisement about the state was in Sydney media? Practically none!)

Part 2

I mentioned before that I think that both the FFT, the state government and TUFC should go out of their way to ensure that they have as much say as possible should the FFA and Federal government look at the possibility of building a stadium in Hobart. Any such stadium will most likely be in the vicinity of 40 - 45k and probably will be down-sized following the end of the cup.

As temp stands are frequently relocated around the world, the removal of seating would probably be followed by the installation of the same seating several months later in stadium in Chile or at a Rugby ground in New Zealand. I think the Tasmanian government should go out of their way to acquire this seating and use it as part of upgrading infrastructure statewide. I mentioned before that an end could be relocated to the side of a new ground in Launceston. Upper tier seating on both sides could be relocated to new grounds in Burnie and Devonport.

At the end of the day, TUFC would be playing at a ground of 25k capacity in Hobart and would have a ground of 5 - 7k capacity in Launceston that could always be expanded. The statewide league would look better with A-league off season matches played in these grounds and the new northern grounds.

I would like to see a future stadium in Hobart in some way tied to the river. Either beside the river or above the river. I have included a few pictures below of a stadium design that I think would be worth considering. (Note - I don't know Hobart very well so bare with me).

A design, similar to the stadium below and without the running track and with FIFA quality stands built closer to the ground, would be an excellent stadium for Hobart. A single stand could be built with its back facing the river which could then be relocated to Launceston following cup. Each of the three sides could have temporary stands at the top of their existing stands and built for eventual relocation. (Two to Devonport/Burnie and the end stand to an existing Hobart ground to improve it's standard for state-wide competition.

The three sides could also each have a canopy in the style of the already mentioned algarve stadium. The beauty of this design is that the relocated stands could be in time be replaced by corporate boxes, function facilities or by future expansion when required. There would be no need to replace the river end for many years. (Indeed having the river in the background at one end would be a showpiece).

These pictures are just to give a basic representation of course. So don't consider the 'quality' of the stadium in this picture. It's an example of 'layout' only. The stadium sides would be parallel and close to the ground for a football ground. Would be keen to get some ideas from people in the region.

After the cup this kind of stadium could become a home to TUFC in Hobart as well as the FFT (And probably two statewide league sides in the off season). Eventually it could work hand in hand with the TIS and UniTas in sporting programs.

I suppose other long term options could include light rail to the city, a nearby ferry terminal, a future attached hotel with a club-themed restuarant (I went to one in England).

I like your thinking Foxhawk. I will add to it slightly and say that NHO fits the bill nicely almost all round for the interim up to 2022 and if we are talking way into the future then Cornelian Bay/New Town Bay is the option for a greenfields site.
