We are planning to establish a Q&A forum with members of the Taskforce executive. Hopefully the first will be with the chairman, John McGirr. If anybody has any questions they would like us to put to John, we ask that you post them here. If we are successful in establishing the Q&A forum, the answers will be posted in the news items on the home page. Add comments 27th Feb. 2009 12

What about holding a Gala Weekend of football at Nth Hobart in Feb - March to generate more interest in this bid. Maybe be have a couple of exhibition matches, with the A league coming to an end at this time of year, you maybe able to get a Invitational 11 (players not in finals) to play against our U21's or against our senior team. Bring on board the migrant communities, who could run stalls with tradional food (mini Taste of Tasmania), as well approach the musicians from these groups to provide entertainment. We need the migrant community on board. Even have a Futsal comp for school kids. Send invitations to all the media groups and FFA, see if Fox Sports and SBS would be interested in sending down reporters etc. At the same time merchandise and memberships can be on sale. Lets make the people of Tasmania sit up and take notice of this bid, get them on board, show them we are UNITED and hopefully the local media will also get behind it.

Q&A with John McGirr, chairman of TUFC taskforce, set up for this Mon/Tue (8/9 Dec) so if you want to ask any questions about the taskforce people, bid, plans or whatever, this is your chance.

TC_CVale, that's a great idea, but not really a question :) Here are a few to start: Has the taskforce considered using a "community owned" club structure such as www.myfootballclub.co.uk, where the members own the club? In a recent FourFourTwo article, it was stated that either the ACT or the Tasmanian youth team would be invited to join the National Youth League in 2009-10. Would the team fall under the TUFC banner and when do you expect to find out further details about this? What sort of level of redevelopment is expected at North Hobart Oval? Minor renovations or a complete rebuild? Is the dream of a proper rectangular stadium in Tasmania a realistic long term goal of the club? How will the club be assisting people wishing to travel for other-end-of-the-state home games? Travel, accommodation packages? Will the club be leveraging Tasmania's large ex-pat community on the mainland for away game support? Active supporters of other clubs, in particular Melbourne Victory, have had conflict with the FFA on Home End Membership (HEM) issues - the areas behind the goals were general admission, up until this season where MVFC/FFA deemed they should be allocated member seating - despite that not being compatible with active support at all. Will TUFC be willing to work with Tasmanian active support group(s)?

Chuq, some great questions mate.A couple more. How much support is there from the business community? What made you decide to seek an A-league licence for Tasmania? What sort of membership packages do you invisage being available and at what cost( can I be first lol)? Would Tassie seek to enlist a marquee player in its first couple of years or would it be seeking to make its list from local and interstate players only? Would the club seek to set up a fan club/supporters club or would this be left to the supporter base to do this?

Hello, a while ago there was mention of a Hobart business that was going to sponsor to quite a large amount ( I can't remember exactly how much now).  Can we still expect to hear anything about a potential sponsor soon, or how are things progressing in this area?  P.S. keep up the great work.

what plans are there to leverage existing talent within tasmania, and same question, but for mainland?

how does the club plan to source players?

how will it deal with the foreign player factor, ie will it look to asia, or straight to brazil? if little to no plans in looking to asia, why not?

any ideas on a head coach, or too early to tell? what is the board looking for in a coach?

how will the club cope with the north-south rivalry, besides naming the club "united"?

i'll think of more no doubt...

Yeah I was pretty encouraged reading it.  Good answers and it made me feel that the bid process was in some pretty capable hands.

Are you able to reveal the short-term plans in regard to stadia should the bid be successful for a 10/11 start?

Where would the team be playing?

Would any friendly/pre-season/youth matches be played along the north-west coast. (A significantly populated area with some sporting facilities that could probably suit pre-season friendly and pre-season cup matches.

I think in the first season the club should play pre-season matches as widely as possible to generate as much support as possible. Put a friendly or pre-season match in both the Devonport and Burnie football ovals. Not ideal but will suit for a while.

When can we expect to have a club nickname. It would be good to have a supporter vote, much like when Reading went from the Biscuitmen to the Royals. Please let us decide if we should be Tasmania United FC Devils, Lions, Convicts, Wolves, Islanders, Pirates etc.
