The recently victorious Tassie youth squad (which seriously needs a giant-killer nickname) is off to Adelaide this week to play the curtin-raiser against AUFC youth at Hindmarsh Stadium (my favourite *purpose built* football viewing venue) on Friday. (The main A-League fixture afterwards is AUFC v Wellington). The second-placed AUFC youth team is likely to include international (ex-Bundesliga, ex-Socceroo) marquee striker, Paul Agostino, among others. This will be a tough test for our lads -but if they can do the business away, it will certainly go a way to putting our case down here for bigger and better things. The question is: is anyone from here able to go over to cheer our blokes on? And if anyone is: can we somehow arrange a green flag or something for them to fly at Hindmarsh?? Add comments |

tassiemarsposted at 3:13PM on 3rd Dec, 2008 I am a Sydney FC supporter living in Launceston and have very positive experiences of the Coves 'away' support. Tasmania is nowhere near to understanding this football culture. Allow time and allow interstate teams to demonstrate what away support is really like when visiting teams come to play in Launceston & Hobart |

Unfortunately travelling to away youth league matches are not practical for me at the moment, but maybe there are some Tassie ex-pats in Adelaide reading this? I've been talking to another TUFC fan who attended the Tas-Melb match who said it was disappointing it was the last home game in the series, as it would have been good to get a group of supporters in front of a flag or banner for the TV cameras! Next time there is a home game we should see if the TUFC taskforce has a banner, or make some "supporters" ones ourselves?» Reply to this comment
