Great news !

See story on home page.

Tassie team v Mariners XI a great time for all the Hobart based TUFC supporters (especially those who can't - for whatever reason- get to Launceston 2 days earlier)to show up at KGV. Sure it's Tuesday in the depths of winter, but not that much on TV (if there is record it !) so make the effort a big crowd would do much to encourage FFA when the business case is, eventually, made to them.

And to quote our resently departed prime minister "fair suck of the sauce bottle" to FFT for some long overdue initiative. Well done !

This is great work by the FFT (or whoever organized this) I can’t wait for the games. I hope we can get a massive crowd and I urge everyone to try and make it. This can be a great chance for the active supporters to support Tasmania United especially in the second game.

Well done FFT. I will be there. The great part about this game is our boys get to show what we can do. Also we the supporter get to see whether Tassie has come very far or not over the last decade or so. Whatever, we will all get an idea as to what we need to really do or might do in the A League.  I hope this can be a starting step to better things. Thank you Mr Boulos & Co.

This match is a big thing for Tasmania. We really need to get behind it and show that Tasmania can get 8 - 10 k for two matches in quick succession (and not just once a year) and that Tasmanians WILL turn out to watch their own team play.

I'm looking forward to the match at KGV in Hobart!  However, we aren't going to get 8-10k to this one!  It will be at 7pm on a Tuesday night, at a ground that only holds 2k at the most.  However it's still a great opportunity to show support!

Yes you are right. KGV at Grove Rd cannot hold more than 2k mostly standing. Shame that some sort of negotiating could not have happened to organise a twilight start at NHO. Herein lays the connundrum - we want games - there are suitable grounds  - authorities will not commit - we get scraps fed. However be happy, "Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things only hoped for : EPICURUS 341-270 BC"

Do any of the active supporters want to meet up pre-game and have a march to the stadium?

Well there it is. Just announced by the BO management. CCM are hoping to arrange at least one full roster A League 'home' game at Bellerive perhaps as soon as next season if arrangements progress satisfactorily. This is a great coup for Tassie and as has been stated by the discussion parties it is an attempt to promote and grow the game and supporter base here. It is not to be seen as a replacement for our own bid to gain entry. Although I do say that it may have to be a temporary alternative. We should also have a Tassie select XI play pre season matches against them as part of our development.

Will be pleasing if it happens and the numbers could well pursuade the FFA to eventually support our bid one way or the other.

Either way its probably fair to say that once we have a side in the comp we should always remember that the Mariners did us this massive favour.

Thats if it occurs of course.

If I were a gambler I would have a punt on us getting in but not which year or what bid. I can understand the FFA looking very hard at any approach given the NQ problems on top of the Jets and Adelaide. Obviously they would not want any further trip ups by consortiums which makes Tassie and Canberra having to probably  prove they are as good as the Heart rather than just trying to make the grade.

Hangon - I have to go get some saladas.

Right. I would say that this is bang on. Look at numbers at the moment. Sure they will increase after the other codes end, however we will want to be sure of our position.

The change in business model sounds like the team had bad news from a single large prospective sponsor. I hope that is not the case.

Hmmm. I do at times feel that hope seems to be all we have when there seems to be no momentum of promotion for the cause. One can say that the only real positive regarding the bid situ is that there is a fair bit of grey suit work going on behind the scenes in discussion mode with a number of sports connected bodies. These being the consortium, stadia operators, state govt, local govt, FFA, FFT, media  prospective sponsors and prospective owners. All in all a pretty fair swag of interconnectedness to get through to make a sensible operation workable. So one can also have sympathy for the difficulties of achieving what is needed for our own unique setup.
