I just rang up FFT and asked about the pre-season game down here this year, and I got some good news! Melbourne Victory is playing Central Coast Mariners on the 25th of July. It should be a great game and I hope we can get a massive crowd. He said that it will be released in the press in the next couple of days. Add comments |

mvfc4lifeposted at 3:14AM on 2nd Jun, 2010 Yeah, I just send a email to the Tasmania United taskforce to see if we could get an active supporter area and I also asked if it would be possible for them to supply us with some banners. I will make sure I let everyone know what they say! Chuqposted at 12:45PM on 2nd Jun, 2010 On the experience from last time ... We didn't request a specific area.. so long as we get there early enough we should be able to just pick a spot. It was a toss up between behind the goals (view from the crowd) or in the main stand (view from the TV cameras). We went with the stand, which as you can see from the video in the other thread got us some good TV coverage! I think it would be better to make our own banners, it makes it more "active support" and less like TUFC is sponsoring us to do it! Making them is easy, I used an old white sheet (a clean, rarely used one, don't worry!) and some acrylic paint from spotlight. Printed out outlines of the letters/shapes I wanted on A3 paper, cut them out as stencils. Used a bit of sticky tape to lightly secure them in place, painted, removed stencil, did some tidying up... waited to dry ... done! Couple of in-progress pics here:
Note the 2nd still has the stencil over the top - it came out quite well in the end!
Chuqposted at 1:00PM on 2nd Jun, 2010 Oh and did they confirm the venue and time - same as usual, York Park 1pm? mvfc4lifeposted at 11:28PM on 2nd Jun, 2010 The flags look great, I will try and make some more! I think we should go behind the goals this time so then the entire crowd can see us but also I think the cameras will move around the stadium and see us there. (especially if we make lots of noise!) Also I noticed it in the You Tube video that the wind was a bit annoying and behind the goals the wind shouldn’t be as bad. If we can get lots of flags and banners that will help us attract lots of attention. When I rang up they didn’t say anything about the time and place but it would be the usual, around 1pm up at Launceston. I think we really need to get lots of Tasmania United supporters to fill a bay, if we can get nearly everybody from this website to be there that would be great, the more people the better atmosphere and we want there to be a great atmosphere in the stadium! We need to be supporters not spectators!! ajax1995posted at 6:04AM on 3rd Jun, 2010 In my little part-time role with ABC, I'll see if I can cover the game for Grandstand, so then they'll come to me about every 20 minutes for an update. This way, I can perhaps get a spokesperson (anyone want to put their hand up) and do an interview on-air before the game. The more exposure, the better. Given there will be AFL coverage on that Sunday afternoon, there should be plenty of listeners. mvfc4lifeposted at 6:10AM on 3rd Jun, 2010 That is a great idea mate, I would be happy to do anything that would strengthen our bid! So is it just audio footage you do are have you got cameras as well?? ajax1995posted at 7:06AM on 3rd Jun, 2010 This will be ABC radio, however, I'm sure there'll be cameras to cover highlights for the tv news that night as well. The radio broadcast would at least give us an opportunity to tell listeners all about the Tas United push. It will be broadcast live statewide. I've put an email into ABC already and let you know if it's a goer. mvfc4lifeposted at 7:18AM on 3rd Jun, 2010 Thanks a lot for that, it’s much appreciated! I hope over the radio you will be able to hear all us active supporters chanting for our team! ajax1995posted at 11:03PM on 3rd Jun, 2010 I'll turn the effects mike up when they cross!! |

Fantastic! At York Park I presume? 1pm-ish time?
Good to see the date, I'm going to be entering the Launceston Ten on July 18th, I was hoping the dates wouldn't clash!!
Once its all confirmed we can start getting the active support organised :)
