Well the 2 new expansion teams haven't worked so well for the FFA, Clive Palmer has pulled the pin on GCU and NQF have run into there own money problems with the FFA taking control of the club. such a shame that Football still is struggling to gain ppl's attention around Australia, You would think a Tasmanian side would be ready to jump in but sadly no with the infighting at FFT don't blame the FFA not wanting to even look at us for a spot. but on a bright note well done to Wellington and the crowds of Wellington for there support this year hope it only gets better for them. galacticaposted at 9:50AM on 12th Apr, 2010 Personally I dont see these two clubs being allowed to fall over. Yes they are faltering but only at the heirachial top rung. A repositioning of capital investment will see them remain. This would be the preferential interest of the FFA. This then gives the TUFC correct breathing space to satisfy all requirements and tick all the boxes necessary for our bid. Naturally such abid relies upon a healthy local feeder competition and so the FFT will be required to put up or shut up because they have not presented our best foot forward over all decades. Pretty much it has been dont rock the boat or outreach ouselves - well the time is nigh to start showing some expertise in all matters pertaining to state football and the ultimate goals of the development squads. Obviously that is the desire to play in the highest competition and hope to represent your country. It should be that we have our home grown players able to do this as soon as possible in the forseeable future. HandzCDFCAUFCposted at 1:46AM on 13th Apr, 2010 I do feel for you guys, I could imagine what it would be like as a massive football follower and my state not having a national team, I cant see why you guys dont have Tas Utd up and running. I mean AFL has entirely taken over the market, Football is definately developing, Cricket is probably the most popualr as far as crowd activity is concerned. Why Queensland has 3 teams beats me and 4 team soon to be in NSW in a 3 code state. Hobart has 250K? correct me if iam wrong and Launceston 120K? that is a market right there, all u need is about 10K+ at games and u should be alright, the support is defiantely there. We support you in SA. As someone previously said, I cant see Nth and GC folding just yet, another dissapointing season and they will go galacticaposted at 12:05PM on 13th Apr, 2010 Thanks for your support and sentiments mate(?) We keep pressing on and your comments sure beat reading some of the stuff that gets said about us here at times. certain types of supporter in some of the websites do like to stick the boot in to the little fella at times. I'm sure they won't think that way when we get in tho cos we don't intend to be pushovers. You are close to the mark with the pop figures and we have competitive U21, U18 and youth sides champing at the bit waiting to get into a state based A League team with a backup marque player or two to top us up. The supporters are ready as well so its really in the hands of the potential backers and officials to press the case so hard that the FFA is up against the wall and gives us our fair go. HandzCDFCAUFCposted at 1:53AM on 14th Apr, 2010 Thats all you can do, keep the support up with the fans and the higher up will have no options, I would defo have a spot for you guys as I have only heard good things about the state. Fingers crossed u guys get through |

Both situations show the precarious nature of the one-man ownership model. Clearly, both Matheson and Palmer wowed the FFA by promising the world but when they realised what a long, hard slog it was going to be, they both jumped ship (if it turns out Palmer has, which does look likely).
TUFC looks likely to go down the road of community or multi-investor ownership, if it gets up, which I am sure will be alot more attractive to the FFA, who are surely more than a little bruised by these fly-by-night benefactors.
