DISCUSSIONS > Pre-Season Matches

We have seent he end of pre-season competition with (in my opinion) a much better system of friendly matches emerge. Something that I consider to be an improvement.

I think it would be great to see TUFC move forward and start to show its face in a non-league competitive mode, if only to draw media attention and support in the local area.

It would be great if either next season or the one after if before the league started if a team could be formed with a combination of some older experienced players, perhaps a retired player or two making a guest appearance and some younger lads, both from other states and Tasmania.

A number of matches would be great with the aim to increase public support prior to obtaining a licence (or if a licence has just been granted with a delay; a la West Sydney).

Perhaps something like the following;

Saturday - Week 1. (HOBART).

Afternoon - South Tasmania versus North Tasmania.

Evening - TUFC Representative side versus VPL (1) side.

Saturday - Week 2. (NORTHWEST).

Afternoon - TUFC Representative side versus Tasmanian Representative Youth Side.

Saturday - Week 3. (LAUNCESTON).

Afternoon - TUFC Representative side versus Tasmanian Statewide Senior side.

Evening - A-League side (1) versus A-League side (2) Head to Head match.

Friday - Week 4. (HOBART).

Evening - TUFC Representative side versus VPL (2) side.

Saturday - Week 5. (LAUNCESTON).

Afternoon - Tasmanian Statewide Senior side versus VPL (2) side.

Evening - TUFC Representative side versus A-League side (3).

I agree and I cannot fathom out what the great difficulty is. Surely those players who have shown an interest in the TUFC concept have been contacted and could be contracted to play games as you mention. The big need at the present time is to improve the standard, skills and pathway possibilities for the spectators, admin & players in Tassie so it is not necessary to wait for licences when one major way of proving our club as being ready for that step would be showcasing ourselves and the public support. If the TUFC is as should be - investing funds for the future of the club concept then currently the only concern would be to recoup operating costs and the players should share all remaining income from match gatetakings until we receive a licence from FFA. At this stage I would say FFT admin should butt out because they have shown themselves to be only amateurs in such matters. Quick estimate 3000 spectators @$10 per head = $30,000 gate less expenses 15,000 = balance 15,000 / 40 players = $375 per match payment. Obviously there are match fee gradients for those who don't get a bench seat and of course some spectators are half price but it all evens out. I bet they don't see anything like that now or ever will unless some actions start.

Great idea Foxhawk.Let's hope the TUFC admin take notice and arrange some games. I ,for one, would certainly attend and I expect many others would too.
