DISCUSSIONS > My new game

This is not so much a post about TUFC. It is more a post about my newest copy of Football Manager which I am picking up this Friday.

First thing I will be doing is using the new editor to remove the A-League and make my own.

I'm thinking two national tiers of 14 clubs each which will play 26 rounds home and away.

Promotion and relegation will be bottom two from the A-League and Winner of the second tier promoting along with a playoff winner.

I am also going to add three feeder leagues if the mechanics will allow it (and I think they will from what I have read).

One will be a Western Feeder, the other an Eastern Feeder and the third a Southern Feeder. Each with 8 Clubs and the winners promoted to the second tier replacing the bottom three clubs.

Lastly I will tie the 9 Authorities to the Feeders (again mechanics-dependant) so that in theory I could take Ulverstone all the way to the A-League.

The only issue I am thinking about is; what clubs should I make up for the second tier?

I was thinking of relocating Wellington to NZ. Then adding Tasmania, South Coast & Canberra to make a 14 team A - League Premiership and then making a second tier from Adelaide City, Brisbane Strikers, Perth City, country Victoria/NSW & QLD sides, 3 more sides from each of Sydney & Melbourne, Sunshine Coast and Cairns.

How does this sound?

Sounds good in theory Foxhawk; reject the FFA reality and substitute your own !

Do you think that equal representation from Sydney and Melbourne is sensible?  Melbourne has 40,000 registered players and Sydney has 200,000.

Thats true, and we will probably see that in real life in twenty years when a second or more tier relegation system evens things up. As for my game, I set it up like this;

A League, Div 1, N/E/S Premierships, N/E/S Div 1 - 3.

Last night I discovered that you can set up a Brazillian style league promotion playoff, so if I was to do it again I would probably split it up differently, but I wont worry now as I have already started a game (including English premiership through to tier 10). The only different with the english one was that I established a 'phoenix' league of twelve clubs just below the premier playing themselves four times instead of two.

I am playing Oldbury in England in tier 10. Seems like a real step up from FM 09 which was not that much different from 08 except for the 3d match engine.

I have to say the game is a massive improvement on the last one.

I am currently playing Auckland City in a revamped NZ League with three tiers.
